This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit EuroWattCalc. The short version: the calculators work entirely in your browser, we don't run user accounts, and this page explains what technical data still passes through the hosting, analytics and (where enabled) advertising layers of the site.
1. Who is responsible for this data
EuroWattCalc is operated as an independent website. For any privacy question, correction request or complaint, contact hello@eurowattcalc.com — this is the fastest route to a response, and every message is read by the person who maintains the site.
2. What the calculators do with your inputs
Every calculator on this site — running cost, EV charging, solar savings, the whole-home budget planner and the rest — runs client-side, in JavaScript, inside your own browser. The wattage, hours, prices and other figures you type are used to compute a result on your device and are not transmitted to a EuroWattCalc server, stored in a database, or logged anywhere by the calculator code itself. Refreshing or closing the page clears them.
3. What is collected automatically
Like most websites, the hosting provider processes basic technical information for every request as a normal part of serving the page — typically the requesting IP address, the URL requested, the date and time, the referring page and the browser's user agent string. This is standard server log data used for security, reliability and abuse prevention, and is not something the calculator code adds on top.
Where analytics is enabled (for example Google Analytics), that provider processes an identifier tied to your browser or device, along with pages viewed, time on site and general location at country or city level, in order to produce aggregate traffic statistics. Analytics data is used to understand which pages are useful, not to identify individual visitors personally.
Where advertising is enabled (for example Google AdSense), the advertising provider may process device identifiers, cookies or similar technologies to select and measure ads, subject to their own privacy policy and to the consent choices you make where consent is legally required.
4. Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK visitors)
Strictly necessary technical processing (serving the page, basic server logs) relies on our legitimate interest in operating a functioning, secure website. Analytics and advertising are not strictly necessary and, where these are enabled for EEA, UK or Swiss visitors, they are activated only together with a consent mechanism that lets you accept or decline before any non-essential cookie is set, in line with applicable consent requirements.
5. Cookies and similar technology
The calculators themselves do not set cookies. Analytics and advertising providers, where active, may use cookies or local storage as described in their own documentation. See the Cookie Policy for the current list of what is active on this site and how to control it.
6. International data transfers
Where a third-party analytics or advertising provider processes data outside your own country — which is common for global services such as Google's products — that provider is responsible for putting an appropriate transfer mechanism in place (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) under their own terms. We do not operate our own international data transfer infrastructure beyond using these third-party services.
7. How long data is kept
Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and diagnostics, per the hosting provider's standard retention period. Analytics data retention is set by the analytics provider's own configuration. We do not keep a separate copy of either.
8. Your rights
If you are in the EEA, UK or a jurisdiction with similar protections, you generally have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format where technically applicable. Because this site does not operate accounts or store personal profiles server-side, most of these requests will resolve quickly once we confirm what, if anything, a specific third-party provider (such as the analytics or advertising service) holds. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority at any time.
9. Children
EuroWattCalc is a general-audience utility site about electricity costs and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
If the analytics, advertising or hosting setup described here changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly. We don't send notifications for policy updates; check back periodically if this matters to you.
