How to use this calculator with your bill
Use the unit rate
Enter the electricity unit rate from your tariff in £/kWh. If your bill shows pence per kWh, divide by 100 before entering it. For example, 25 p/kWh becomes £0.25/kWh.
Keep the standing charge separate
A daily standing charge is normally payable regardless of how much one appliance runs, so appliance comparisons usually exclude it.
Time-of-use tariffs
If your rate changes by time of day, run the calculator separately for each rate and the hours that fall within it.

Do I enter pence or pounds per kWh?
The calculator expects the decimal currency amount per kWh. Convert 25 p/kWh to £0.25/kWh.
Does it include the standing charge?
No. The result estimates the energy-usage portion for the appliance.
